Catapult

The catapult is based on the medieval throwing catapults. The construction does not require any special manual skills and promotes competence-oriented work in the classroom. The students build a functioning catapult and then develop given and their own solution strategies to increase the throwing distance. The solutions and goals are documented independently by the students. This promotes creativity and expands manual skills. Trial and error bring the students to the acquisition of knowledge. Physical simple lever laws are tested, applied and reflected on in practice.
Skills required: Marking, sawing, sanding/filing, drilling, screwing and gluing. Curriculum requirements according to LehrplanPLUS for handicraft lessons: in order to increase awareness of the complete action, the students plan, manufacture and design their workpieces according to their personal design. They consciously implement the knowledge they have acquired in the areas of material and processing in the manufacturing process. Dimensions: approx. 200 x 130 x 220 mm, 1 piece
